The 'I' measurement (42 feet, 6 inches) which we got from sailboat data is not correct. In filling out the paperwork today, I believe the 'I' measurement is 41 feet.
This is what I measured:
A vertical line down from the Jib Halyard sheave to the Pin at the Stem fitting is 39 feet, 8 inches.
A vertical line down from the Jib Halyard sheave to the Deck adjacent to the mast is 41 feet, 0 inches.
Which is the correct 'I' measurement - 39 feet,8 inches, or 41 feet, 0 inches?
The difference is due to the 16 inch rise of the shear line of the deck.
