Webbing on tack luff and Leech - See picture

1.An additional tack at the luff and an additional clew at the leech for reefing about 2m above the foot.

These points should be made as webbing loops, (similar to the tack used when the sail is not reefed),  with adequate enforcement in the cloth. See attachment.

2.Three small webbing loops approximately in line on each side of the sail between the additional tack and clew mentioned above, approximately evenly spaced and each with appropriate enforcement. The purpose is to be able to tie up the depowered cloth by tying strings, when the sail is reefed by the additional tack and clew. There should be no grommets or any other metal parts used for this purpose, and the sail cloth should not be pierced. See attachment.

Extra Info

Here is additional information which should be included in the order as necessary:

a.        The furler is a Facnor Flat Deck  FD 190 with a luff profiles R24. I believe 5mm luff tape (#6) is recommended.

b.       The distance (perpendicular to the head stay)  from the tackpoint on the furler drum to the profile’s luff tape grove  ) is  5 cm.

c.        Distance from tack to lower end of luff tape (bolt rope) should be more than 50cm but less than 70cm. Hence 60 cm may be suitable.

d.       Grommets or similar along the luff, interspaced at about 1m,  for latching the sail to the forestay as alternative attachment method independent of using the luff profile grove.  (To comply with World Sailing Special Regulations (4.27.3 b) for heavy weather sail.)

e.       Additional tack and clew points for reefing about 2m above the foot. The points should be made as webbing loops (no metal rings/dog bones), with adequate enforcements in the cloth.

f.         Three small webbing loops in line between the reefed tack and clew on both sides of the sail, to facilitate lacing  the depowered cloth area together when reefed. No grommets or holes to be made in the cloth for this purpose.

g.        Foam in luff seems unnecessary (?) as reefing by furling will not be used.

h.       UV protection color matching the gray  Lite Skin Cloth.
